Joakim Odelberg
Award-winning film and photojournalist, fellow explorer, and ocean advocate. Leads expeditions to document and protect marine life, transforming scientific findings into powerful visual storytelling.

BUSINESS & PARTNERSHIPS
Jan Sidemo
Has had a long career in marketing and event management, both as an employed at large corporations and as founder of agencies. He is from Sweden but has lived and worked in the US, China and Belgium where he ran major events in Sailing (Volvo Ocean Race), Racing (Indycar) and Golf (DP World Tour).
Jan's primary role is to ensure the sustainability and growth of key Fragile Hope projects by identifying, pursuing, and securing strategic funding opportunities.

Lovisa Andersson
With 25+ years in global brand strategy, Lovisa leads branding, communications, and partnerships at Fragile Hope. She amplifies our voice across media and digital platforms, inspiring engagement and connection. Passionate about ocean conservation, she champions efforts to protect life above and below the sea.

Hampus Regnér
Engineer and marketeer with a passion for digital solutions and a strong commitment to nature. A true ambassador for the voiceless, believing that caring for animals and the environment is caring for each other. At Fragile Hope, Hampus manages web and digital media to enhance user experience and strengthen the organisation’s digital presence.

SCIENTIFIC LEAD
Alex Hearn
Alex Hearn is a Marine Biology Professor and Researcher at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and the Galapagos Science Centre. He obtained his BSc in Oceanography and Marine Biology from the University of Southampton, UK, and his MSc and PhD from Heriot-Watt University in the Orkney Islands. He has worked in the Galapagos Islands since 2002, where he spearheaded the development of the Shark Research Program. Alex is a National Geographic Explorer and was made co-champion of the Mission Blue Galapagos Hope Spot in 2020. He served as Board President of the MigraMar network from 2021 to 2025. His current projects include using acoustic and satellite telemetry to establish the migratory pathways of sharks and monitoring shark nursery grounds. Alex has published over 70 peer-reviewed research articles and over a dozen book chapters. He recently led the multi-institutional team of biologists to develop a blueprint for improved conservation of the open waters outside the Galapagos Marine Reserve. This process resulted in the creation of the new Hermandad Reserve in 2022.

SCIENTIFIC LEAD
Alex More
Dr. Alexander More is a climate and health scientist and economist known for his work on the economic and health impacts of climate change. Educated at Harvard University, where he earned multiple teaching and research awards, he holds positions at Harvard, the Climate Change Institute, and UMass. He serves on the boards of several charities such as Daniels Philanthropies and The Explorers Club (TEC) and is a fellow of several Royal Societies and TEC. A first-generation college graduate, he has advised U.S. policymakers and led global scientific expeditions from the ocean’s depths to the top of glaciers. His discoveries are often featured in major media outlets worldwide, and he directs a center for interdisciplinary research and science communication.

EXPEDITIONS
Anneli Sara Banderby
Anneli Sara Banderby is a Swedish diver passionate about technical diving, especially in cold and challenging environments. She is an rEvo instructor, ambassador for Mares XR and Seacraft DPV, and co-founder of The Cavettes, a network for female cave divers.
In Fragile Hope, Anneli serves as a technical diver, advisor, and safety diver, supporting filming when needed, especially during complex underwater shoots.
She spends much of her time exploring caves, mines, and wrecks, driven by curiosity, skill, and a commitment to protecting the underwater world and its community.

EXPEDITIONS
Emma Partanen
Emma Partanen has worked with and around water for nearly 15 years — ten of those as a diving instructor, and more recently within water purification and sustainable urban development. She has also spent many years advocating for those without a voice, particularly focusing on marine justice.
As part of Fragile Hope, Emma contributes cohesion and knowledge around the various impacts on our marine environments and what we can do to protect and restore them. She firmly believes that preserving the marine world is essential not only for ocean health but also for creating the conditions needed for sustainable life on land.
